Colorado Rockies

After contemplating much on something that could use a new look, I stumbled upon the baseball team the Colorado Rockies. Wanting to practice some more on professional branding, I decided to put my skills to the test through the use of designing vectors and editing mock-ups for the team’s rebrand.

Research was one of the most important factors of this project, as many teams in Major League Baseball use an icon of their city in their team’s identity. I started with researching things that are a staple in not just their state, but in the Rocky Mountains themselves. Things that came into consideration came mountains, the state flag, trees, and black bears. After sketching out different ideas, I decided to take the approach with the bear, but with hidden Easter eggs in the logo that include the ideas that preceded the final option. The appropriate color scheme was chosen based on the team’s past branding as well as colors that best match the theme of the famed mountain range. After designing the vector, variations, and other icons that expanded the identity, I applied them to appropriate mock-ups that would help envision this as the reality for the team.

The new branding for the Colorado Rockies takes staples of the state, and a little bit of design work, to refresh its fan base with a much needed brand new look.
